In 2020, for the first time in the history of the Earth, man-made mass exceeded biological mass. Now, at the latest, it becomes clear that the legacies of mankind will enter the archive of the earth's crust as a geological layer.
In the narrative environment, unearthed finds tell of an indeterminate future, while at the same time they carry the signs of the past. What narratives of the Antropocene can be found in these future fossils? What hybrid materials will emerge?
Visitors are invited to become part of the scene by uncovering the finds, changing the terrain and leaving traces.
The project is based on artificial intelligence generated terms and their definitions. The algorithm makes use of an existing dictionary. A selection of these words forms the basis of the narrative environment. To what extent can artificial intelligence be an actor in the design process, taking design power from humans and making decisions?
A dialogue between non-human and human actors is created, which we will probably encounter more often in the future. However, it holds new (design) approaches and renegotiates the believed position of the sole creating human being.
